CASUAL by Iroquois

Russel Wright Casual by Iroquois began production in 1946. A criticism of this line's wildly successful predecessor, American Modern, had been that the dinnerware chipped and broke easily. Casual was designed to wear well, and it does. In fact, during in-store promotions for Casual, Russel Wright was known to throw the items on the floor to illustrate their durability. The dinnerware was redesigned five times, with the last design in 1959. Favorite pieces with collectors include the gumbo soup bowl (shown to the right) and original mugs.
